The term dates for the 2025 school year are:

• Term 1 - 27/01 (students start on 28/01) to 02/04/2026
• Term 2 - 20/04 to 26/06/2026
• Term 3 - 13/07 to 18/09/2026
• Term 4 - 05/10 to 18/12/2026

The first day of a new school year is a student-free day, endorsed by the Department of Education. Schools allocate three remaining student-free days and one whole-school professional practice day across the year, and these dates require school council approval.

2026 student-free days that have been approved by the BESDS council are:

• Curriculum Day - Tuesday 27 January 2026 (first day of Term 1 to prepare for the new school year)
• Curriculum Day - Wednesday 28 January 2026 (second day of Term 1 to prepare for the new school year)
• Curriculum Day - Friday 5 June 2026 (Term 2 Staff Professional Development Day)
• Whole-school Professional Practice Day - Friday 14 August 2026 (Term 3 Staff Professional Development Day)
• Curriculum Day - Monday 2 November 2026 (Term 4 Report Writing Day)
